CERT educates about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where you live.
The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), a training program under the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's FEMA. Participants, including our team leaders, go through a Level 2 check which is a thorough check, so it will cover all the criminal databases - state, federal, and local - along with the FBI database and sex offender registries and they learn basic disaster preparedness and response skills, such as fire safety, search and rescue, and medical operations, to help their communities before, during, and after a disaster. The goal is to create a resilient community where trained volunteers can assist their neighbors and support professional first responders when large-scale emergencies overwhelm local resources.
